The Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards (HKDEEA) is the first-of-its-kind in history. Representating the highest recognition and appreciation for the industry, the HKDEEA seeks to honour the best works produced in Hong Kong in digital entertainment and to promote excellence in the field.

Introduction of the 1st Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards

In a concerted effort involving various organisers, sponsors, and supporting organisations, the inaugural Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards (HKDEEA) scheme was successfully implemented. Winners of the three Categories and the Cyberport Award were selected by the professional Category Panel Judges and Grand Jury, based on the 5 judging criteria, namely 'originality', 'creativity', 'entertainment value', 'technology' and 'business potential'.

The 1ST HKDEEA found a tremendous response from the industry, recording a large number of submissions. All the entries demonstrate a highly professional standard and are precisely designed for various business areas. This reflects the prevalence of computer animation and digital effects in our daily lives, as well as entertainment software's penetration in diverse sophisticated game productions, including PC online games, console games and games for mobile devices.

This year, brilliant creations produced by independent producers and rising amateurs were received as well. Their works blended originality and technical achievement to inspire the entertainment industry, which signifies local creations, should not be neglected by all means.

By producing this interactive CD-ROM on the winners, we hope to further stimulate professionalism in our digital entertainment industry, encourage more talents to join the industry, and promote our digital entertainment productions both locally and globally, thereby developing new market opportunities and enhancing Hong Kong's strength in a fast expanding field.
