The development of new materials and advanced material
technologies enhances our living. Engineers of various
disciplines are

now working together, exploring new ways in designing for
sustainability, making use of new products and minimizing wastage to
|
|
improve our living environment while striving to use the least
amount of natural resources. Traditional requirements for
materials
|
|
quality,
durability and fit-for-the purpose are no longer sufficient
considerations. We need to regard low carbon emission, environmental
|
|
friendliness and sustainability as key objectives. Engineers of Hong
Kong, like their counterparts all over the world, are facing the
|
|
same challenge. |

This conference aims to bring together local and overseas
practitioners and academics to share their experience and
