Data Centre


Officially opened in September 2007, HKOSSC is operated by HKPC to provide the following resources and services:

1. Software Porting – The Centre provides the latest hardware and software technologies for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to enhance their solutions and expand to OSS platform. ISVs can also leverage access to remote machines from supporting partners and vendors.

2. System Testing – The Centre tests the compatibility of OSS hardware and software under simulated typical office and manufacturing environment. The testing results are published regularly as a reference for those who would like to implement OSS in their workplace or factory.

3. Solution Demonstration – To raise the awareness of OSS, the Centre demonstrates vertical OSS applications at a solution display zone which helps boost SME confidence in OSS applications.

4. Proof-of-Concept/Pilot Projects – The Centre provides hardware platform, middleware, and related software and other common commercial software (such as system management, clustering, high-availability tools) for testing and experiment of pilot projects.

5. Technical Support – The Centre provides OSS technical support through hotline, email, web site, and if needed, arranges face-to-face session with our technical consultant.

6. Software Certification – The Centre provides certification service to solutions, thereby helping ISVs to gain visibility and recognition.

7. Professional Training and Seminar – The Centre conducts OSS training & seminars to enhance the capabilities of professionals, and promote OSS adoption among local software companies.

8. Research and Survey – The Centre conducts market study and research of OSS adoption and disseminates these reports to users and IT industries regularly.
