The Film Development Fund (the Fund) was established by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 1999 to support projects which are beneficial to the healthy and long-term development of the film industry in Hong Kong. The original approved commitment of the Fund was HK$100 million. Following the redeployment of HK$50 million from the Fund to set up the Film Guarantee Fund in January 2003, the revised approved commitment of the Fund was HK$50 million. The Fund operated for five years, from April 1999 to March 2004.
