Seawater Scheme Promotes Seafood Hygiene
Dubbed a gourmet's paradise, Hong Kong boasts a dazzling range of gastronomic delights, including fresh seafood. However, seafood is good only if those marine creatures are kept in clean and uncontaminated water.

To minimize the risk of seafood contamination, the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau (HWFB) of the HKSAR Government has launched the Quality Seawater Assurance Scheme (QSAS) and appointed HKPC as its accrediting body.

Under the Scheme, seawater suppliers, seafood traders and restaurants can seek accreditation for the quality of the seawater they supply or use. The Scheme helps to ensure the fish tank water used along the seafood supply chain is up to hygiene standards.
