AquaSed Wastewater Treatment Increases Processing Capacity and Meets Environmental Regulations

Hsin Chong Construction Group Ltd. was established in 1939. The Group now provides integrated property related services, including building construction and engineering, property development, property management and insurance. Hsin Chong Construction Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Group focusing on construction projects.
Client's Needs
At present, many construction sites use sedimentation tanks to reduce suspended solids in the effluent before it is discharged into the drainage or sewage.
While it takes time for the suspended solids to become sediments, the tanks must be large enough to cope with the huge volume of wastewater effluent of construction sites.
Due to the limited space available within a typical construction site, this is hardly feasible. The lack of time for sedimentation also results in a filtering rate of only 50% to 70% of the suspended solids, which does not comply with the Government's discharge standards.
According to "The Technical Memorandum Standards for Effluents Discharged into Drainage and Sewerage Systems, Inland and Coastal Waters" of the Environmental Protection Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the relevant standard allows only 30 mg of suspended solids per litre of wastewater.
HKPC's Services/Solutions
The client installed a set of AquaSed developed by HKPC.
HKPC's AquaSed is a specially developed system to treat wastewater at construction sites. The system uses low cost chemical agents to enhance sedimentation.
The installation of this system and its footprint achieves a saving of 80% compared with conventional sedimentation tanks. The system is also able to treat high volume, highly turbid wastewater and at the same time significantly reduces the suspended solid content of the effluent.
The result is fully compliant with the Government's discharge standards, with no interruption of the construction work.
