ISO 14000 Environmental Management System (EMS)
Background
HKPC has played a leading role in introducing the ISO 14000 series of environmental management system (EMS) standards to Hong Kong companies both locally and in the Pearl River Delta. It provides comprehensive consultancy and training services on ISO 14000 compliance, covering all relevant processes from auditing to implementation. Apart from ongoing services, HKPC has undertaken major projects on ISO 14000.
Major Projects on ISO 14000
1995 - Launch of the first ISO 14000 EMS Pilot Programme for local companies
1996 - Launch of the second ISO 14000 EMS Pilot Programme for SMEs in service sectors
1997 - Establishment of an ISO 14000 telephone helpline
1997 - Establishment of the Green Management Club
1999 - Launch of the "Industry Support Scheme" on ISO 14001 for SMEs with funding support from ITF
2003 - Implementation of "Project Acorn" for SMEs with funding support from SME Development Fund
Achievements
By 2006, HKPC has assisted over 80 organizations to achieve ISO 14000 certification since its launch in 1996. In addition, over 35,000 individuals have participated in our EMS training programmes since 1996.
