Partnership Objective:

To revitalize Hong Kong's status as an Asia Gem Trading and Service Centre, with the development of an Accredited Gemmological Certification and Label Scheme for Diamond and Jadeite Jade

Nature of Partnership:

As the project's implementation agent, HKPC is responsible for carrying out the major activities of the project, including developing the label scheme, assisting the pilot laboratories to adopt the developed system and offering training workshops with the endorsement of the project applicant, the Gemmological Association of Hong Kong (GAHK).

Details on the partnership:

HKPC and GAHK jointly established the accreditation scheme for the local gem trading and gem testing industry to standardize the requirements for issuing diamond and jadeite jade report and certification.

A set of standardized gem testing working instructions, a gem laboratory management manual and an accreditation system for gem laboratory in compliance with the international standards were also developed to ensure the credibility of the accreditation scheme.

As the implementation agent of the project, HKPC has taken an active role in assisting six pilot laboratories to implement the developed management and accreditation system through training workshops.
