Cross Industry Matching Showcase Pairs Up Creators with Business Partners

Seventy-four Hong Kong character creators, graphic and product designers, licensing agents and design institutes will show off their creative works at the “Cross Industry Matching Showcase 2012” to tap cross-over opportunities with the business sector. The event is organized by the Innovative Entrepreneur Association and co-organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to promote such collaboration.

Riding on the success of the inaugural Showcase last year, the 2012 event will be held at the InnoCentre in Kowloon Tong from 22 to 24 March. Apart from an exhibition of creative works, it also comprises exchange forums on cross industry collaboration; and on-site consultation service on intellectual property management. The Showcase is a highlight of a programme to promote commercial application of creative works.

Introducing the Showcase today (5 March 2012), Mr Kevin She, chairman of the programme’s organizing committee, said, “The inaugural Showcase successfully matched over 10 companies with their business partners to produce innovative lines of cross industry products. These success match-ups are proof that by leveraging the penetration power of Hong Kong creative designs, businesses can apply cartoon characters and designs of local favours to add value to and promote their products.”

Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC, said, “Cross-industry partnership can effectively help businesses promote products, enhance brand value and tap new markets. By providing a platform for business synergies between local creative talent and enterprises, we hope to achieve win-win for all. To further support the local creative sector, this year we have also introduced a mentorship programme with four creative heavyweights offering their advice and guidance on business development to 10 exhibitors.”

The programme is sponsored by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Mr Jerry Liu, Head of CreateHK, said, “Cross-industry matching is one of the high growth areas for creative industries. We encourage more collaboration between creative talents and business sector to expand the market size.”

Mr Raymond Cheng, General Manager (Mainland and Business Management) of HKPC, said, “Apart from the Showcase, the programme also includes the set up of a cross-industry matching website (www.crossmatchingshowcase.com), and the provision of one-stop support services to facilitate creators and their SME business partners.”
