“Showcasing Creative Works to Inspire Cross Industry Matching in Commercial Applications 2014: Match-To-Win” First Presence of “Cross Matching Pavilion” at Entrepreneur Day for Cross Industry Collaboration

Eighty Hong Kong character illustrators, graphic, product and multimedia designers, and licensing agents will display their excellent creativity at the “Cross Matching Pavilion” at the Entrepreneur Day to trigger more cross-industry collaboration.

The Pavilion is a highlight of the “Showcasing Creative Works to Inspire Cross Industry Matching in Commercial Applications 2014: Match-To-Win” (“Cross Matching Programme”) organized by the Innovative Entrepreneur Association (IEA), implemented by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), and sponsored by “Create Hong Kong” office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The Cross Matching Pavilion (formerly “Cross Industry Matching Showcase”) will be held from 2 to 3 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Mr Albert Cheung, President of IEA, said, “The past three editions of the showcase have successfully matched 32 companies with design and creative partners for cross-sector collaboration. By utilizing local creative designs, businesses can reap benefits in three areas – improved product packaging; introduction of new cross-over products; and brand rejuvenation. We expect more synergy building between the creative sectors and businesses at this new venue.”

Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC, said, “The use of creative designs to enter high value-adding markets is an irreversible trend. To enhance the competitiveness of the Hong Kong brand, HKPC has been establishing platforms for partnership between the creative industries and the manufacturing and service sectors to inspire new products and services.”

Located at Hall 1DE on Level 1, HKCEC, the Cross Matching Pavilion is held concurrently at the Entrepreneur Day of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. It will open from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm on 2 May and from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on 3 May for free admission.

In addition to the Cross Matching Pavilion, the Cross Matching Programme also organizes other activities to promote commercial application of creative works. They include business skills workshops and a mentorship programme with renowned local creative figures who offer their advice on business development to participating creative establishments.

The Cross Matching Programme was launched in 2011. To-date, it has provided a matching platform for some 215 creative companies and more than 5,000 people from the commercial sector. Among them, 32 commercial enterprises had been successfully matched with their creative counterparts who offered services in the areas of product packaging design, brand-new product development, and product re-branding, etc.
