Fifty-one companies, corporate volunteer teams and social enterprises with outstanding achievements in implementing and promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) were recognized at “The 5th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Presentation Ceremony” today (17 December 2014) (annex).

The awards presentation ceremony is a highlight of “The 5th Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program” organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), co-organized by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE), and sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK).

Mr Tsang Tak-sing, Secretary for Home Affairs of the HKSAR Government, was the Guest-of-Honour at the ceremony. Other officiating guests included Dr Clement Chen, Chairman of HKPC; Dr Joseph Lee, Chairman of CPCE; Mr Rocky Cheng, Deputy General Manager of Information Technology Department of BOCHK, and Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC.

This year, the Awards features four categories, namely ‘Enterprise’, ‘SME’, ‘Volunteer Team’ and ‘Social Enterprise’; each with gold, silver, bronze and merit awards. Winners of the Gold Award are: ‘Enterprise’ - New World Development Company Limited; ‘SME’ - Baby-Kingdom.com Limited; ‘Volunteer Team’ - NWS Volunteer Alliance, and ‘Social Enterprise’ - MentalCare Connect Company Limited – “Rehab Express” Direct Sales Service.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Chen said, “Apart from strengthening their CSR management systems, enterprises should also bring their CSR activities to the next level by taking the lead in helping groups with different needs. By being more creative in implementing social responsibility, enterprises can also attract talents and reduce costs. HKPC hopes organizations can make reference to the winners’ examples on incorporating CSR in their business.”

At the ceremony, six companies which have been recognized under this program for three years or more also received the inaugural “Corporate Citizen Continuous Advancement Award”. In addition, 98 companies received the “Corporate Citizenship Logo” for their notable CSR performance, and six of them with less than five years of history were recognized as “Corporate Citizenship Young Power” for their active participation in CSR. Prizes were also presented to winners of the “Inclusion Everywhere Video Competition”.
