(Hong Kong, 19 February 2019) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) welcomes the promulgation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by the Central Government, which confirms their support for the development of the innovation and technology (I&T) industry in Hong Kong. HKPC believes the Plan will expedite and facilitate "Reindustrialisation", smart manufacturing, cleaner production and more technology transfers among local industries and international renowned R&D organisations, supporting Hong Kong's development as an international I&T hub.
HKPC, being a trusted partner of Hong Kong companies, has developed and brought in various advanced automation solutions, empowered by Industry 4.0 (i4.0), over the years for companies to achieve productivity and quality excellence in terms of strategy, management and production, to increase efficiency and reduce operating costs whilst maintaining edges in the local and international arena.
HKPC will lead businesses' implementation of i4.0 and "Enterprise 4.0" applications, continue to bring in new technologies and world class partnerships, as well as develop novel measures. By leveraging past industry support experience, such as the launch of INC Invention Centre (THE HATCH), introduction of "i4.0 Upgrade and Recognition Programme", organising training courses under the "Reindustrialisation and Technology Training Programme" (RTTP), operating the "Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales - Enterprise Support Programme" (BUD Fund) and "Cleaner Production Partnership Programme", HKPC aims to offer all-rounded and cost effective solutions for businesses, to promote industry upgrading and transformation, and hence adoption of smart manufacturing in Hong Kong industry in the digital era.
HKPC strives to promote the development of businesses in the Greater Bay Area. In 2004, it set up subsidiaries in Dongguan and Shenzhen to offer support across the value chain for businesses to enhance competitiveness. Recently, it established the "HKPC Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Centre and Greater Bay Area Office" in Futian, Shenzhen, with the aims of developing smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, big data and environmental technology projects and offering integrated support services, shared space and an exchange platform for SMEs and startups in the Greater Bay Area.
HKPC will continue to support the development of SMEs in the region. Through provision of advanced technologies and professional consultancy services, it will study the strategies of smart production implementation in order to foster the transfer and promotion of smart manufacturing model to industry for further "Reindustrialisation".
