Automatic Engine Idlestop and Supplementary Air Conditioning System

To improve the roadside air quality in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Productivity Council has developed ISAC Automatic Engine Idlestop and Supplementary Air Conditioning System.  The ISAC System stops the vehicle engine automatically under a safe and appropriate condition when the vehicle is stationary, thus reduces fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission.  During the engine idlestop period, the system also supplies conditioned air to the vehicle cabin, maintaining thermal comfort to the passengers in hot weather.

CONSTRAINT OF TRADITIONAL A/C SYSTEM

Traditional vehicle air conditioning system is belt driven by the engine.  The air conditioning system is, therefore, unable to operate during engine-off condition.  This issue is aggravated in hot weather.
