In Hong Kong, about 3310 tonnes of food waste is generated from domestic and commercial users every day which imposes great pressure to landfills. To address the issue, HKPC has developed an in-situ High Performance Food Waste Conversion System (FWCS). This technology can substantially reduce the volume of food waste by 70% in 25 days, instead of 60 to 90 days by conventional compositing method. The system can be operated continuously, effectively transforming waste into organic fertilizers with commercial value.
