HKPC Organises Inaugural "Foresight 2021" Virtual Forum - Business Leaders Offer Battling SMEs Insights to Seize New Opportunities

(Hong Kong, 10 November 2020) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will organise “Foresight 2021”, a large-scale virtual forum from 23 to 27 November, with heavy-weighted business leaders and academics sharing insights on the upcoming trend of enterprise transformation, technology innovation and new economic development in 2021, in order to support SMEs to cope with challenging business environment in 2020 and leverage new technology to embrace opportunities in the new economic era of 2021.  

Under the theme of “Stay Ahead with Visionary Insight”, this free-of-charge five-day forum will explore the new economic drivers of Hong Kong, covering re-industrialisation, digital commerce, sustainability and green technology, future leader skills, and 5G and Internet of Things. Business leaders will analyse the development trend of each area coupled with real life business cases, and anticipate the opportunities and challenges in the Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area and ASEAN markets, allowing enterprises to plan for 2021 with business acumen. 

A “Foresight Leader Forum” titled “How Technologies can Equip SMEs for the New Economies?” will kick off the event. Renowned guests, including Dr Victor Fung, Chairman of Fung Group; Professor KC Chan, Chairman of WeLab Bank and Senior Advisor of WeLab; Dr Peter K N Lam, Chairman of Hong Kong Trade Development Council; and Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation; will join Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, to introduce the development trend of re-industrialisation, retail, finance, trading and technology; and analyse the business opportunities and new business model arising from new technology, exploring how SMEs can best utilise them. 

Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC said, “While the situation of COVID-19 in Hong Kong has shown signs of stabilising, various uncertainties such as instability in global political situation, unclear future of local economy, and disruptive changes to our lives and work due to the pandemic, have posed unprecedented challenges for the enterprises. To equip enterprises with business foresight in all directions, HKPC organises a large-scale virtual forum – ‘Foresight 2021’, focusing on popular economic topics and covering opportunities in the Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area and ASEAN markets. Experts and leaders from various sectors will share their insights, enabling the enterprises to plan early and apply creativity in business upgrading and transformation so that they can identify new directions in such challenging times.”
