HKPC to Launch Large-scale "SME ReachOut: Fund Fair Everywhere 2020" Virtual Exhibition - 50+ Government Funding Schemes and Programmes Showcase to Help SMEs Battle Adversity

(Hong Kong, 18 August 2020) Hong Kong SMEs have been facing acute challenges in doing businesses, against the backdrop of global economic uncertainties and the prevailing COVID-19 epidemic. HKPC will organise a large-scale free online exhibition “SME ReachOut: Fund Fair Everywhere 2020” from 24 to 26 August, aiming to provide SMEs and startups with first-hand information on Government funding schemes and programmes. This much-anticipated event, with over 40 webinars, 50+ virtual booths, instant and pre-booked consultation services, will enable SMEs to break the social distancing barriers and get to know the useful information provided by over 20 Governments and public organs from Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area without geographical barriers.

Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, said, “Hong Kong enterprises are renowned for their agility. Even when Hong Kong has recently become the focal point in the China-US trade conflicts and is facing unprecedented challenges posed by persistent global economic uncertainties, various industry sectors are striving to resort to other resources and solutions to overcome the difficulties, while adapting to the new norms in operations under the epidemic. Through solidifying strengths and restoring the vigour, SMEs will be able to set off again once the global and local economic climates show signs of stabilising. During the epidemic, HKPC has never stopped from helping SMEs counter the hardship, with the provision of technology support as well as various activities and services. This time, the ‘SME ReachOut: Fund Fair Everywhere 2020’ offers timely assistance to keep SMEs on top of comprehensive Government funding information and tide over the hard times together.”

Curated by the HKPC-operated SME ReachOut, this free of charge three-day event will revolve around three themes: fight against the downturn; reach new markets; and sustain business transformation. Mr Edward Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, and Mr Alfred Sit, Secretary for Innovation and Technology will be the guest speakers for the thematic webinars on 24 and 26 August respectively, offering insights into the Government policy directions and exchanging views with other speakers on development opportunities. The virtual booths will cover the financial and commercial development, startups and innovative industries, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the sustainable development and professional industries, equipping SMEs and startups for the new norms under the epidemic. Apart from the webinars, the instant and pre-booked consultation sessions will also be available for the participants to engage in one-on-one consultation with SME ReachOut and other government funding schemes through chat box and appointment advice service. SMEs will be able to identify suitable funding schemes to battle the hardship and explore new opportunities in order stay ahead of the curve for economic resilience in the post-epidemic era.

HKPC cordially invites SMEs and startup entrepreneurs from various sectors to participate in the “SME ReachOut: Fund Fair Everywhere 2020”. Pre-booking is now open on fundfair.hkpc.org.
