HKPC’s Inaugural New Productive Forces Job Fair 2025

(Hong Kong, 10 March 2025) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) successfully hosted the inaugural New Productive Forces Job Fair 2025 on Saturday, 8 March 2025, attracting over 2,000 participants. The fair brought together over 40 leading international, mainland, and local enterprises, including industry giants such as Alibaba, Huawei, NEC, Cathay Pacific, CLP, and Hang Seng Bank, offering more than 2,000 cutting-edge job opportunities.

The fair was supported by nearly 20 local tertiary education institutions, government bodies, and non-profit organisations and served as an effective platform for rapid job matching and connecting top talent with employers. The fair also featured innovative offerings including an AI-powered interview test that provided real-time analysis of candidates’ strengths and weaknesses, and a CV “Clinic” which offered personalised, one-on-one resume consultations to help job seekers refine their applications to help them achieve their career aspirations.

The opening ceremony of the fair was held at 11am and endorsed by Mr Ivan LEE, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology; Mr Emil YU, Deputy Chairman, HKPC, Hon Benson LUK, Legislative Council Member and Mr Mohamed BUTT, Executive Director, HKPC.

In his welcoming remarks, Guest of Honour Mr Emil YU, Deputy Chairman, Hong Kong Productivity Council said, “The core concept of 'New Productive Forces' lies in driving innovation, high-quality development, green productivity and talent. This will not only help Hong Kong maintain its competitive edge in the global marketplace but also fuel fresh growth for the city's economy. This job fair serves as both a platform connecting job seekers with enterprises and a vital showcase of how New Productive Forces can lead Hong Kong's future development”.

In his opening speech, Mr Ivan LEE, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology said, “The Hong Kong Government is strongly committed to supporting the “New Productive Forces Talent Development Programme” leading by HKPC to foster the development of productivity and new economic growth, and to enhance investment in innovation and technology. This initiative underscores the government's dedication to cultivating innovation and technology talent, as well as its strategic focus on investing in the future”.

In the Hong Kong Government’s initiatives outlined in the Chief Executive’s 2024 Policy Address, the city has a clearly stated goal to boost education, technology, and talent development. In this regard, the HKPC has been focusing on advancing new, high-quality productivity forces and advancing Hong Kong as an international centre of innovative technology through Innovation, high quality, greenness and talent.

As a result, the fair offered a wide range of employment opportunities related to innovative technology. Popular positions included: Solutions Architect, Digital Engineer, System Operations Officer, Business/System Analyst, Software Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Database Administrator, Digital Marketing Officer, Business Development Specialist, and many more. Internship and management trainee roles from various organisations were also available.

16 career talks, industry experience activities, and workshops were held with 90% of the activities having full attendance, covering a wide range of sectors including the aviation industry, the low-altitude economy, and investment banking, and many topics were addressed from career planning to LinkedIn branding and networking, interview techniques, public speaking, presentation skills, and digital marketing. These sessions aimed to help job seekers enhance their competitiveness and unlock their potential.

This year, the "New Productive Forces Talent Development Programme," organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission, aims to assist the market in cultivating more creative talent and entrepreneurs equipped with new skills and innovative thinking. This initiative promotes the development of Hong Kong's distinctive new quality productivity that is driving the city toward a new era of high-quality development. The programme offers a diverse range of activities, including online self-learning courses like vLearn, technology study tours, and new industrialisation training courses. 

The recent job fair marked the programme's first public event, offering in-depth training focused on five emerging industries: microelectronics, biotechnology, AI artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and new energy, thereby fostering innovation and advancing economic growth in Hong Kong.
