(Hong Kong, 11 May 2026) New Industrialisation International Cooperation Forum cum BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest (Hong Kong–Macao Division), jointly organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and China Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation (CIETC) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), was successfully concluded at the HKPC Building.

Aligned with the national “15th Five-Year Plan” strategic deployment to promote the deep integration of technological innovation with industrial innovation, and to accelerate the pace of new industrialisation and green low-carbon transformation, the event brought together over 100 representatives from government, industry, academia and research sectors across Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. Under the theme “Green Empowerment of New Industrialisation: Exploring New Models of Going-Global Cooperation”, participants exchanged insights on advancing the convergence of green technologies and industrial internationalisation.

Uniting Efforts to Build a Sustainable Green New Industrialisation Future
The event brought together distinguished guests and speakers. Mr Zhang Qiang, Deputy Director of the MIIT CIETC, said, “We are hosting the New Industrialisation International Cooperation Forum in Hong Kong for the first time, with the aim of building a high-level platform for industrial collaboration, and fostering the exchange and integration of innovation resources. At the same time, the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest (Hong Kong–Macao Division) serves to stimulate regional innovation vitality and strengthen industrial cooperation between Hong Kong, Macao and BRICS countries. Through the synergy of the forum and the contest, we aim to promote a more resilient and sustainable future for global industry.”

Ms Lillian Cheong, JP, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, emphasised “The HKSAR Government is actively promoting advanced manufacturing, digitalisation and green technology to accelerate industrial upgrading and transformation, while fostering a new industrial model of ‘local R&D + GBA manufacturing + global market’. This provides young innovation and technology talents with more opportunities for international exchange and real-world experience. The Hong Kong–Macao Division of the contest serves as an important platform for innovators and enterprises to validate technologies and connect with markets, while also demonstrating Hong Kong’s unique role in linking national policies, industrial needs and innovation practices.”

Mr Yonghai Du, Chief Innovation Officer of HKPC, said, “HKPC has always been closely aligning with the national and HKSAR Government’s strategic policies to promote the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation. By establishing high-level platforms for exchange and cooperation, we continue to strengthen partnerships with Chinese Mainland and international partners in the field of industrial innovation. This event not only showcases the strengths of Hong Kong and Macao in industrial innovation and green technology, but also provides an important practical platform for innovation teams in Hong Kong and Macao to connect with BRICS markets and expand international cooperation.”

Showcasing Multiple Innovative Projects: Driving Green Industrial Innovation
The first “2026 BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest (Hong Kong–Macao Division)” was held concurrently during the forum. The competition, themed “Uniting BRICS Intelligence to Advance Innovation and the New Industrial Revolution,” attracted top universities and investment institutions from Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. Nearly 30 innovation and technology projects were presented, spanning cutting-edge areas including green and low-carbon technologies, industrial upgrading, energy transformation, and environmental protection, fully demonstrating the three regions’ R&D strength and development potential in green industrial innovation.

Judges from the innovation and technology sectors of both the Mainland and Hong Kong conducted a rigorous review from multiple perspectives, including technological innovation, professionalism, maturity, social impact, BRICS elements, and implementation feasibility. Ultimately, nine outstanding projects were selected for First, Second, and Third Prizes, with all winners recommended to advance to the grand final of the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest.

Leveraging “The Cradle – Go Global Service Centre” to Deepen BRICS Industrial Innovation Cooperation
HKPC has been committed to promoting innovation and technology exchange between Hong Kong, the Mainland and the world, fostering industrial collaboration and supporting enterprises going global. This event not only establishes an international platform for green technology and new industrialisation, but also strengthens technical exchange, industrial collaboration and talent interaction among the Mainland, Hong Kong–Macao and BRICS countries through the “BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition (Hong Kong–Macao Division).” It supports Hong Kong and Macao in advancing innovation and technology development, and accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading, while fostering new quality productive forces.

As one of the members of the HKSAR Government’s GoGlobal Task Force, HKPC will continue to provide enterprises with “Six Tactics to Go Global” through “The Cradle – Go Global Service Centre,” delivering comprehensive going-global services.

At the same time, HKPC will capitalise on its strengths in technology R&D to deepen international cooperation network, optimise going global services and technology matching mechanisms, facilitate the commercialisation of outstanding innovation projects, and promote cross-border industrial chain collaboration as well as green and sustainable development.
