HKPC Helps Enterprises Innovate from Zero to One

Amid volatile market sentiment, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will continue to help local enterprises create innovative products and services, and adopt management best practices for sustainable growth, says Mr Stanley Lau, presenting his first Annual Report as Chairman of HKPC.

Mr Lau said, “With the unfolding of the Third Industrial Revolution driven by the digitization of manufacturing, HKPC will act as an agent of change to help Hong Kong enterprises transform and upgrade their business to effectively respond to disruptive changes brought by smart technologies. HKPC is set to launch new industry-wide initiatives to promote and transfer locally ‘Industry 4.0’ crucial technologies and concepts such as smart factory, intelligent robotics, 3D printing and information security for ‘Internet of Things’.”

Under the theme of “From Zero to One”, the 2014/2015 Annual Report, tabled today (4 November 2015) at the Legislative Council, outlined HKPC’s efforts during the year to assist local businesses to constantly re-invent themselves to keep pace with the fundamental shifts in the business environment in an ever-changing world.

Highlighting HKPC’s investment in hardware facilities and efforts to strengthen its professional expertise to meet the needs of the industry, Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC, said, “These new facilities and services will shorten the product development cycle and reduce the development cost for SMEs, upgrading their technological capabilities to explore new business opportunities in high value adding sectors such as automotive, biomedical and opto-communications.”

During the year, HKPC opened the Conformal Cooling Technology Centre to help manufacturers substantially shorten injection cycle time and improve mould quality at competitive costs; and started plans for a new one-stop support centre ─ 3D Printing One, which was launched in August 2015. It has also implemented the Retail Technology Adoption Assistance Scheme for Manpower Demand Management of the HKSAR Government.
