APAS R&D Centre Showcases Cream of Locally-developed Green and Smart Transport Technologies

With “electrification” and “intelligent” being the two major development trends for the auto industry, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will continue to develop advanced electric vehicle (EV) parts systems, EV charging and “Internet of Vehicles” technologies to support local enterprises in seizing opportunities in the green and smart transport sector, says Mr Victor Ng, Deputy Chairman of HKPC.

Mr Ng was speaking at the opening of the “APAS R&D Centre Showcase 2016” organized by HKPC’s Hong Kong Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems (APAS) R&D Centre today (17 June 2016). The Showcase was opened by Dr David Chung, Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the HKSAR Government. It comprised a technical seminar and an exhibition of the Centre’s latest R&D results.

Mr Ng said, “Over the years, APAS R&D Centre has been helping the industries develop EV critical technologies and charging infrastructure, also with collaborations on the development of medium, fast and mobile EV charging stations. In addition, with the wider adoption of smart technologies, ‘Smart Mobility’ is an important development blueprint for the Centre. Recently, we have successfully developed various smart vehicle systems with functions ranging from collision avoidance, driver assistance, lane assist to pedestrian detection, etc.”

Several APAS R&D Centre’s R&D results on auto electrification and intelligent technologies were displayed at the event, including the “Multi-standard Mobilized Smart EV Charger”, a silver medallist at the “44th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva” in Switzerland in April; “MOST150 Multimedia Optical Networking Product for Coaches”, a winner of the “2015 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Equipment and Machinery Design Award”; Site Worker Warning and Protection System, and various EV charging solutions.
