52 Companies, Corporate Volunteer Teams and Social Enterprises Recognized at "The 8th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards"

Fifty-two companies, corporate volunteer teams and social enterprises with remarkable achievements in implementing and promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) were recognized at "The 8th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Presentation Ceremony" today (15 December 2017) (annex).

The awards presentation ceremony is a highlight of "The 8th Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program" organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), co-organized by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE), and sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, said, "Over the past eight years, we are delighted to have more companies joining the Program to re-evaluate their performance on CSR implementation for further improvement. Apart from practising CSR themselves, some have gone one step further by collaborating with business partners, employees and social organizations. This is instrumental to creating innovative solutions to tackle cross-sectoral social issues."

The Awards this year continues to feature four categories, namely 'Enterprise', 'SME', 'Volunteer Team' and 'Social Enterprise'; each with gold, silver, bronze and merit awards. Winners of the Gold Award are: 'Enterprise' - NWS Holdings Limited; 'SME' - Diving Adventure Ltd.; 'Volunteer Team' – NWS Volunteer Alliance; and 'Social Enterprise' – Health Massage and Treatment Centre (The Hong Kong Society for the Blind).

At the ceremony, 223 companies received the "Corporate Citizenship Logo" for their notable CSR performance and volunteering work, among which 46 companies that have participated in the Program for at least five consecutive years were granted the 'Corporate Citizenship 5+ Logo'. To promote the sharing of CSR experience, HKPC has consolidated and analyzed data provided by the participating companies to compile a benchmarking report for the reference of others in setting their continuous improvement goals. Also, prizes were presented to winners of a writing competition for secondary and tertiary students that is created to enhance youth understanding of various aspects of CSR.

On top of organizing the Program since 2010 to promote CSR implementation in Hong Kong, with the funding support of the Home Affairs Bureau, HKPC launched the "Social Enterprise Executive Development (SEED) Experiential Programme" last year to facilitate project collaboration between company executives and social enterprises. It aims to improve the operations and management of social enterprises, while helping develop management talents and new business for the participating companies.

Other officiating guests at the awards presentation ceremony included Ms Melissa Kaye Pang, Chairman of CPCE; Mr Stephen Chan, General Manager of Institutional Business Department of BOCHK; and Mr Gordon Lo, Acting Executive Director of HKPC.
