(Hong Kong, 21 September 2020) In light of unprecedented challenges posed to Hong Kong by persistent global economic uncertainties due to COVID-19 and other external factors, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today announced to extend the special relief measures of 50% concessions* for Hong Kong SMEs, including startups, to 31 March 2021*. The special offer will continue to apply to all new R&D and consultancy projects, testing services as well as HKPC venue charges. Details are as follows:
In addition, the “Buy-3, Get-1-free” offer for ALL HKPC corporate training courses, not only limited to SMEs, will continue during the same period. Companies can also leverage HKPC's “HKPC Live” webinars or online training platform to keep the learning and nurturing culture handily flourish.
Mr Mohamed Butt, Executive Director of HKPC said, “The recurrent epidemic has brought stiff operation challenges to SMEs and starups like never before. HKPC, as a dedicated partner of Hong Kong industry, has been rendering special relief measures to help them ride out the storm and adapt to the epidemic-led ‘new norms’ since March this year. As observed, it still takes time for revitalising the economy in the post-epidemic period. HKPC is determined to keep standing by the industry partners and pulling out all the stops to enable them to come through the ordeal stronger and more competitive, through the provision of technical support and various activities and services to serve their immediate needs”.
These include the staging of the “Fund Fair Go Online” and “Fund Fair Everywhere 2020” by HKPC-operated SME ReachOut in April and August respectively. The two online events dedicated to providing SMEs and startups with first-hand information on Government funding schemes and programmes. SME ReachOut also stretches its reach to every corner of the commercial and industrial buildings, offering SMEs with practical consultation. During the epidemic, it continues to get in touch with various SMEs through online consultation services, in a hope that they can obtain fund-related information seamlessly. Besides, the HKPC Sourcing Fair will be held online in early October to foster local technology sourcing and partnership and, more importantly, gives SMEs further opportunities to secure new business in the public sector.
