HKPC Fights Against Epidemic with New Arrangements for Pandemic Prevention Undergoing Virus Testing Every 3 Days and Expanding the Vaccine Bubble
(Hong Kong, 7 January 2022) In light of the latest development of the COVID-19 epidemic, starting from 10 January, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will tighten up the entry arrangements of personnel working in the HKPC Building. Those who are not vaccinated will be required to have the frequency of undergoing polymerase chain reaction-based (PCR) nucleic acid test increased from every seven days to every three days.
Also, given the HKSAR Government’s plan for expanding the “vaccine bubble” which will be put into effect from 24 February, starting from the same day, all persons will be required to show their vaccination record with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine for entering the HKPC Building. Only under two circumstances can this said requirement be exempted: individuals are (1) ineligible for vaccination due to age; or (2) unfit for vaccination due to health reasons with relevant medical proof issued within the last three months and a valid proof of negative test result within 72 hours issued by a government-recognised testing institution for entry.
With a new wave of the epidemic looming, mandatory virus testing and vaccination are crucial parts of the local anti-epidemic strategy. HKPC hopes the measures can reduce the risk of further spread of the virus, protect the health of those entering the HKPC Building, and contain the epidemic as soon as possible, while achieving the goal of gradually resuming to normal customs clearance and to prepare for the Hong Kong economy to take off again.
HKPC will regularly review the above tightening measures in details to determine the follow-up arrangements.
