(Hong Kong, 6 July 2023) To echo the HKSAR Government's "Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint" in nurturing local innovation and technology (I&T) talent at different learning stages, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will organise the "Summer TechEd Fest" at the HKPC Building on 21 and 22 July as a showcase for the education sector and the public to experience the latest TechEd solutions, to spare no effort in promoting TechEd and Smart Campus development, and enlarging the I&T talent pool.
"Summer TechEd Fest" is supported by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, the Innovation and Technology Commission, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and the educational, business, and I&T organisations. The event is free of charge and features over 90 TechEd-related activities, including STEM Fun experience zone, workshops, interactive booths, and parenting seminars, etc., suitable for people of different ages to learn and use I&T. The experience zone offers activities such as flight simulation, VR immersive painting theatre, F1 in Schools, drone piloting, and more, which are suitable for those who enjoy dynamic and exciting experiences. The theme of the student or parent-child maker workshops is creative and diversified, including 'upcycling' NFC keychain green workshops, personalised 3D printing workshops, etc., encouraging everyone to create unique pieces. In addition, there are several parenting seminars, with guest speakers such as experienced celebrities Ms CHAN Man-yi and Ms Sharon LAM, etc., sharing tips for raising happy kids and cultivating future I&T talent. Through diversified themes and activities, we hope to enhance public awareness and understanding on different innovative technologies.
TechEd Playground is also available on the event day for the public to get up close with the six TechEd-themed applications, including aerospace technology, cyber security, green technology and biotechnology, robotics engineering, smart city and virtual world technology. Everyone can have fun while learning!
Hon Sunny TAN, Chairman of HKPC, said, "Talent is an essential element in driving I&T industry development. HKPC is committed to promoting TechEd and nurturing talent, connecting education, I&T, and business sectors, and equipping employees and students with FutureSkills to embrace the limitless opportunities brought by the I&T era. This year's 'Summer TechEd Fest' provides students with a meaningful summer activity that mixes learning with entertainments. It also offers a platform for the education sector and the public to learn about and exchange TechEd solutions. Going forward, we will actively promote TechEd to build a comprehensive ecosystem for TechEd and cultivate future I&T talent for Hong Kong and the country to enhance the overall competitiveness of Hong Kong."
