HKPC Attracts Global I&T Talent in “CareerConnect Expo” Driving Hong Kong's Development as an International Talent Hub

(Hong Kong, May 10, 2024) HKPC recently participated in the first “Global Talent Summit · Hong Kong - CareerConnect Expo”, receiving enthusiastic response from talent from the Mainland and other countries and regions, such as Singapore, Canada and the United Kingdom, and effectively promoting Hong Kong's dual role and advantages as an international talent hub and the country's gateway for talent. Talent seized the occasion to know more about career development opportunities and corporate culture of HKPC, a leading R&D institution in Hong Kong, at the event organised by the Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) under the HKSAR Government and held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Also, more than 50 market-trending training programmes organised by HKPC Academy under HKPC were showcased at its booth.

In alignment with the HKSAR Government’s talent initiatives, HKPC has always placed top priority on cultivating local I&T talent, providing quality employment opportunities as well as admitting outstanding talent from the Mainland, Vietnam, Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland and USA. Within HKPC’s internationalised R&D environment, talent can fully unleash their potential. At the same time, HKPC actively explores international cooperation, joining hands with the world's leading technology companies to bring world-class talent, technologies and resources to Hong Kong.

Mr Brian WONG, Chief People and Culture Officer of HKPC, stated, “It is very encouraging to see the consistent trend of non-local employees joining HKPC through initiatives such as the ‘Top Talent Pass Scheme’. Most of them work in R&D related positions. Their professional expertise and experience have brought fresh dynamism to HKPC. In the past two years, our R&D teams have achieved more than 200 prestigious scientific research awards and recognitions locally and globally. HKPC will continue to introduce top-tier I&T resources and deepen the partnerships with local, Mainland and international R&D and education institutions, and join hands with local and overseas talent to tackle industry pain points by offering I&T solutions.”

Besides recruiting talent, HKPC is also committed to nurturing talent, continuously offering a wide spectrum of diverse and high value-added training programmes through its HKPC Academy. HKPC Academy encourages professionals across all sectors to acquire FutureSkills, which is essential to thrive in a competitive market. In this “CareerConnect Expo”, HKPC has introduced the brand new “Career Kickstarters Programme”, tailored for job seekers who come to Hong Kong for career development, to facilitate their understanding and adaptation into local business environment, improve their personal branding, technological knowledge and soft skills and enhance their market competitiveness and confidence.

Ms Karen FUNG, General Manager of InnoPreneur and FutureSkills & Chief Marketing Officer of HKPC, said, “Talent is a key element to drive new productive forces. The future of work would be seeking 'all-rounded' talent endowed with digital proficiency, cross-sectoral competencies and a global perspective. HKPC Academy has conducted more than 1,000 training sessions and events, over 220 of which were designed around new industrialisation, empowering more than 50,000 participants and boosting their competitive edge. Apart from physical training programmes, HKPC Academy has also established the ‘vLearn Platform’, offering online bite-sized videos and interactive training content covering topics like local business cases and trends. It allows talent from around the world to understand the needs of Hong Kong enterprises, enables them to learn and grow continuously anytime and anywhere, and align with the development of the Greater Bay Area and the international market.”

Moving forward, HKPC will continue to adapt and innovate, providing a diverse range of groundbreaking development opportunities and training services, in order to further expand Hong Kong’s I&T talent pool, actively promote new industrialisation and develop new productive forces, supporting Hong Kong’s development as an international innovation and technology centre, and making contributions to the country's high-quality development.
