HKPC and The British Standards Institution Hong Kong Sign MoU Joining hands to Build a Green and Smart Future through International Standards

(Hong Kong, 13 January 2026) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and The British Standards Institution Hong Kong (BSI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the establishment of a strategic partnership to jointly promote international standards and best practices in key areas such as sustainability, ESG, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI). This collaboration aims not only to translate globally recognised standards into application in Hong Kong but also enhance the international professional capabilities of enterprises, particularly the Chinese Mainland enterprises intending to go global, helping them deeply understand and adapt to international rules and practices, thereby boosting their competitiveness, achieving compliance, and driving sustainable growth.

The signing ceremony of the MoU took place at the HKPC Building. Witnessed by Mr Yonghai DU, Chief Innovation Officer of HKPC, and Mr Michael LAM, Senior Vice President, APAC region of BSI, the MoU was signed by Dr Keith CHOY, General Manager, Green Living and Innovation Division of HKPC, and Ms Tatiana SCHMOLLACK-TARASOVA, Greater China Managing Director of BSI.

Mr Yonghai DU, Chief Innovation Officer of HKPC, said, “HKPC is greatly honoured to collaborate with BSI. Together, we will provide clear international standard guidelines, credible certification, and practical training for enterprises, including those planning to go global, helping them master the global market's common rules and best practices, and smoothly expand their international business.”

Ms Tatiana SCHMOLLACK-TARASOVA, Greater China Managing Director of BSI, expressed keen anticipation for this collaboration, “The collaboration between BSI and HKPC signifies a shared commitment to advancing enterprise capability, international compliance, and sustainable growth across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area through the promotion of global standards and innovation.”

According to the MoU, HKPC and BSI will jointly develop and organise training courses, seminars, and collaborate on standards in key areas such as sustainability and ESG, cybersecurity and AI, and other ISO management systems. These initiatives aim not only to impart knowledge but also to empower enterprises – providing the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong businesses with the tools, knowledge, and confidence that are aligned with international standards to explore new markets and compete credibly on the global stage.

This collaboration will combine BSI’s global expertise in standard-setting with HKPC’s deep industry connections and applied research and development capabilities, particularly in green and smart technologies. Both parties will jointly explore opportunities to promote international best practices, supporting the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong industries in adopting relevant standards to enhance ESG performance, digital resilience, and market access capabilities. It will provide support for the sustainable development of enterprises, jointly building a long-term green and smart future.
