HKPC partners with MIIT CIETC to Accelerate International Cooperation on New Industrialisation New Industrialisation International Cooperation Forum cum BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest (Hong Kong–Macao Region) to Launch

(Hong Kong, 5 May 2026) To actively align with the national “15th Five-Year Plan” strategic deployment to promote the deep integration of technological innovation with industrial innovation, and to accelerate the pace of new industrialisation and green low-carbon transformation, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), in collaboration with the China Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CIETC), will host the “New Industrialisation International Cooperation Forum cum BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest (Hong Kong–Macao Region)” at the HKPC Building on 7 May. This marks the first time the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest has established a Hong Kong–Macao Region, aiming to build a high-level industrial innovation cooperation platform connecting the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and BRICS countries.

New Industrialisation International Cooperation Forum Exploring Green Technology and Industrial Upgrading 
The event leverages the strengths of HKPC in technology application R&D, industry support, and comprehensive “go global” services through its “The Cradle – Go Global Service Centre”, together with the policy support, platform resources, and expertise of the CIETC in new industrialisation and international industrial cooperation. This strong partnership aims to jointly drive industrial innovation and international development. Key guests and speakers include Ms Lilian CHEONG, JP, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, Mr Zhang Qiang, Deputy Director of CIETC, MIIT, Mr Yonghai DU, Chief Innovation Officer of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, and Mr Howard LEE, Associate Director (Green Tech) of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, among others.

Under the theme “Green Empowerment of New Industrialisation: Exploring New Models of Going-Global Cooperation”, the forum will bring together distinguished speakers and representatives from government, industry, academia and research sectors in the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. They will engage in-depth discussions on how green technologies can empower new industrialisation and deepen industrial innovation cooperation among BRICS countries, creating new opportunities for regional cooperation and global industrial upgrading.

BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest Launches Hong Kong–Macao Region Multiple Cutting-edge Technology Projects Set to Complete 
The BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest (Hong Kong–Macao Region) will gather innovation and technology enterprises, research institutes, and university teams from Hong Kong, Macao and the Chinese Mainland. Participants will showcase a number of cutting-edge innovative solutions with strong technological breakthroughs and high industrialisation potential. Several projects will focus on using digital technologies to improve the overall efficiency of industrial energy systems, promoting the application of clean energy in industrial scenarios, and leveraging artificial intelligence and large model technologies to help enterprises strengthen carbon emission management and energy decision-making capabilities. Winning projects from the Hong Kong–Macao Region will have the opportunity to advance to the Grand Finals and exchange ideas with industrial partners and experts from BRICS countries, expanding cross-border cooperation and market development opportunities.
