HKPC Showcases "AI Smart Factory" at WAIC 2026 Demonstrating AI-Enabled Manufacturing and New Momentum for Go Global Supporting High-Quality Global Expansion of Industrial Supply Chains

(Hong Kong, 10 July 2026) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will once again participate in the "2026 World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance" (WAIC) in Shanghai from 17 to 20 July 2026. HKPC will create an immersive "AI Smart Factory" exhibition area to showcase how artificial intelligence (AI) is transitioning from research to real-world implementation, empowering the manufacturing industry's transformation and upgrading.

Organised jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Shanghai Municipal Government, this year’s WAIC is themed "AI Partnership for A Brighter Future". With over 1,100 participating enterprises and more than 3,000 innovative products on display, the event sets up a new benchmark in scale and quality. HKPC’s exhibition, themed "AI Adaption in Manufacturing", will be presented as an "AI Smart Factory", in line with the work plan to deepen the integration of the industrial internet and AI issued by the Chinese Mainland Government. It will showcase a range of cutting-edge AI applications developed by HKPC, directly applicable to factory and warehouse logistics management, highlighting HKPC’s commitment to advancing the integration of AI with manufacturing, demonstrating successful AI applications in industry, and driving the sector toward high-value, high-quality transformation.

Hon Sunny TAN, BBS, Chairman of HKPC, said, "WAIC is a top-tier window for understanding the global AI technology landscape. We are delighted to participate once again, showcasing Hong Kong's R&D capabilities and practical achievements in AI and smart manufacturing. As the global supply chain undergoes profound restructuring, the 15th Five-Year Plan has positioned the Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta Integration as the 'core driving force' for Chinese Mainland's high-quality development. Hong Kong is the ideal springboard for the Yangtze River Delta to connect with the global market. Leveraging its unique international advantages, Hong Kong can serve as a key gateway for nurturing 'high-value-added talent’ and supporting the national supply chain upgrade and enterprise ‘go global’ strategy. As a key member of the HKSAR Government's 'GoGlobal Task Force', HKPC will continue to leverage the professional advantages of 'The Cradle - Go Global Service Centre', helping enterprises align with international standards, and bridging the last mile from 'Chinese Mainland brands' to 'global brands".

Transforming into "AI Smart Factory" to Showcase Cutting-Edge Industrial AI Technologies
HKPC’s booth will transform into an "AI Smart Factory", focusing on the core smart production elements required in a modern factory. It will demonstrate how to build a flexible and smart production line within limited space, enhancing production flexibility and efficiency, and helping enterprises move toward higher-value segments of the value chain. All technologies on display are built on HKPC's self-developed multipurpose AI platform, “HKPC Picasso”. This platform serves as the core engine for promoting the practical application of AI technology, offering six large language model (LLM) modules, over 30 commonly used functional modules, and approximately 40 applications, supporting the rapid development and deployment of various smart solutions. Through its modular design, the platform significantly reduces development costs and technical barriers for enterprises, enabling the deployment of customised AI systems within weeks. To date, the platform has supported the development of over 500 AI solutions, widely applied in smart manufacturing, smart cities, and other fields, helping enterprises achieve cost-effective AI integration.

HKPC’s Exhibition Projects Highlights at WAIC 2026

During the exhibition, HKPC will host tech talks from 17 to 20 July, covering topics such as humanoid robot applications, the HKPC Picasso platform, and the AI-Powered Manufacturing Intelligence Platform, sharing innovative insights and practical experiences. Key events including the New Productive Forces Meet-up Event on July 17, bringing together government, industry, and academic representatives from Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland to discuss technology applications, industrial convergence, and corporate “go global” strategies. On July 18, the Industry Network Cluster (Shanghai) will focus on AI and robotics, as well as collaboration opportunities between Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland.
