Ageing has a significant impact to the living quality of all of us. Advanced technology today can help solve problems in the everyday lives for the elderly, and provide an environment that is healthy, comfortable and safe for them. In view of improving the quality of elderly services, the HKSAR Government has set up a HK$1 billion fund to promote Gerontechnology and subsidise elderly service units to trial use and procure technology products. The policy is supportive yet foreseeable challenges in promotion and implementation are still there. Ideas and suggestions from various stakeholders are indeed the key to effective implementation.
In light of this, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), acting as a supportive statutory body for the industry, has initiated Hong Kong’s first GeronTech Cluster, named GLink. With its aim to facilitate exchange of information among industry practitioners, strengthen the development of GeronTech and promote smart ageing in the community, GLink has allied with industry and community stakeholders with common goal on this topic.
Work with stakeholders so as to strengthen the development of GeronTech, as well as widespread adoption of relevant technology solutions for the elderly in Hong Kong.
