Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) is a flagship event jointly hosted by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to showcase innovative technological solutions that enhance the quality of life of elderly persons and persons with disabilities.
HKPC actively participated in the GIES once again and displayed products under the theme of “5G x Gerontech” in our exhibition zone. The four main aspects of focus were healthcare, food, living and mobility of elderly persons. The Smart Health Care System shifts healthcare delivery to preventive, predictive and personalized. This cloud based management system makes use of internet of things (IoT) to collect residents’ real-time health data and improve elderly home management. Another product that unleashes the power of cloud computing and data analytic is the Smart Meal Cart, a food delivery device that records the appetite of users via electronic weight and RFID trays. Other showcased products include matrix IR sensor for fall detection and alert, and robotic dog with 5G module and 4K camera for remote delivery, disinfection or inspection work and relieving the mental strain or loneliness of persons receiving care.
Industry experts from HKSAR Government departments, social welfare and healthcare industries, academia and research institutions joined forces to shed light on the latest trend and development of gerontechnology at the GLink Conference, in a hope to elevate living standard of the elderly through innovative technologies. This spotlight event not only served as an exchange platform for industries and stakeholders, but also fostered cross-industry collaboration so as to grasp the business potential arisen in the gerontechnology market.
