HKPC Collaborates with Lotus Engineering Malaysia to Enhance Capabilities of Automotive Professionals

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today (18 November 2005) signed a Strategic Training Collaboration Agreement with Lotus Engineering Malaysia (Lotus Engineering) to provide automotive engineering training for Hong Kong automotive companies and their partners in the Mainland.

The signing ceremony was officiated by Dr Stephen Lee, Director (Product Productivity) of HKPC, and Mr Albert Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Lotus Engineering, UK.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Lee said, "The partnership between HKPC and Lotus Engineering will enhance the capabilities of automotive engineers and automotive parts suppliers in Hong Kong and the Mainland. Leveraging on Lotus Engineering's expertise in automotive design, engineering and quality assurance, and HKPC's experience in industry training, the collaboration will facilitate local industry players in their quest for Tier-1 supplier status. "

Mr Lam said, "This strategic collaboration signifies an important milestone in cementing a solid foundation for Hong Kong to create a knowledge-based automotive industry. Lotus Engineering is proud to be a driving force behind this initiative."

Under the agreement, HKPC and Lotus Engineering will jointly organize professional engineering training in Hong Kong and the Mainland. The training will include courses accredited by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and Lotus School of Engineering. The SAE Automotive CAD Certification Programme is a comprehensive programme using the Catia software in automotive design. There will also be a series of Supplier Quality Assurance Courses and Design Engineering Courses to help raise the quality and standards of automotive parts manufacturers and designers.
