The "2006 World's Jewelry Design Masters, Strategists & Leaders Forum" and the "2006 International Jewelry Design Creativity & Technology Conference", jointly organized by the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association (HKJMA) and the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), are set to provide a platform for information exchange and business collaboration for Hong Kong and international jewellery enterprises.

Held today (8 December 2006) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the opening ceremony of the Forum was officiated by the Hon. The Conference will be held on 9 December 2006 and Mr Gordon Leung, Deputy Commissioner for Innovation and Technology Commission, HKSAR Government, will officiate at the opening ceremony.

Addressed by local and international industry experts and designers, including keynote speaker Mr David Yurman, Designer and Chairman of David Yurman, Inc., the two events aim to explore the latest development in the jewellery industry in the global and Hong Kong marketplace, and the strategy to support innovation and creativity in the sector.

Renowned for our remarkable design, quality, craftsmanship as well as prompt delivery, Hong Kong has evolved into the world's leading jewellery centre, and the world's fourth largest exporter of precious jewellery. In the first 10 months of 2006, the total exports of precious jewellery exceeded HK$23 billion, an increase of 14% over the same period last year."

"Backed by a pool of creative designers and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, Hong Kong jewellery manufacturers are offering a huge choice of fashionable and innovative products. The industry is well-positioned to find new horizons for development in the world market," he said.
