Hong Kong Companies to Showcase 'Ultra-dimension of Digital Entertainment' at Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA

Innovative digital entertainment productions from Hong Kong will be showcased at the Hong Kong Pavilion of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E³) 2006, the world's largest trade show for computer and video games, from 10 to 12 May 2006 in Los Angeles, USA.

Staged for the fourth time at E³ since 2003, the Hong Kong Pavilion is jointly organized by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of the HKSAR Government, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association, China Game Publishers Association (Hong Kong) and Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Industry Support Centre. Featuring 15 companies, the Hong Kong Pavilion is located at the Kentia Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Under the theme of "Ultra-dimension of Digital Entertainment", the Pavilion will showcase the latest works of Hong Kong's digital entertainment industry, characterized by the blending of traditional games with contemporary digital technologies. A special focus will be the 'casual games', including on-line football games that are expected to be popular this summer as the 2006 World Cup matches will soon take place, as well as bridge and chess, and mahjong games. Other exhibits will include entertainment/game software, computer animation, and digital effects productions.

The Hong Kong Pavilion is likely to capture the attention of visitors with its science fiction atmosphere and eye-catching decoration depicting computer graphic of a virtual scene inspired by the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong and the outer space.

As a highlight of the Hong Kong Pavilion, the first woman action choreographer in Hong Kong, Ms Yeung Ching-ching and her assistant Mr Anson Cha will give a special performance entitled "Kung Fu in Space" to introduce the new productions.

At the Pavilion, in addition to on-site demonstration of entertainment software, visitors will be able to sample an array of PC games, online as well as mobile games developed by Hong Kong companies. Leveraging on this international marketing platform, business matching sessions will be organized to facilitate collaboration between Hong Kong and overseas industry players. The winning entries of the 4th Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards will also be exhibited at the Pavilion.

E³ is the most important trade event in the interactive digital entertainment industry in the world. This year over 400 exhibitors from all parts of the world will participate in the event.
