SZ-HK Productivity Foundation Opens Today at Shenzhen Hi-Tech Park

To foster technology collaboration between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today (15 October 2007) announced the opening of the 'Shenzhen SZ-HK Productivity Foundation' at the Productivity Building in Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park.

A joint venture between HKPC and the Shenzhen Small and Medium Business Service Centre of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, the Foundation is established with an aim to support Hong Kong and Shenzhen industries in product and technology innovation. The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr Liu Yingli, Executive Vice Mayor of Shenzhen; Mr Chen Yingchun, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen; Mr Frederick Ma, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR Government; Ms Rita Lau, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Technology), HKSAR Government; Mr Gao Guohui, Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal Government and Mr Andrew Leung, Chairman of HKPC.

Speaking at the opening, Mr Leung said, "The SZ-HK Productivity Foundation sets a milestone in technology collaboration between Hong Kong and the Mainland. As a major initiative in support of the implementation of the 'Shenzhen/Hong Kong Innovation Circle' co-operation agreement, the Foundation will provide integrated support to assist enterprises in developing new products and technologies for value creation and industrial upgrading."

Located at the heart of the Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park, the 2,100-square metre SZ-HK Productivity Foundation will commence full operation in November 2007. Housing six technology centres, the Foundation provides support in environmental technology, electronics and automotive technology, software and digital entertainment, technology transfer, business management, intellectual property management and brand building. Its services range from technology commercialization and business matching, product development and technology consultancy, standards and quality testing, training, business consultancy, to promotion of Hong Kong's professional services.
