HKPC Grooms its Team to Serve Industries Amid Crisis

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will continue to strengthen its team and step up its efforts to support Hong Kong enterprises to overcome the current economic downturn.

Making the pledge as the Council releases its 2007/08 Annual Report today (27 November 2008), Mr Wilson Fung, Executive Director of HKPC, said, "The most valuable asset of HKPC is our people. Over the past 12 months, we have developed various new initiatives, including a series of internal re-structuring and reform, to rejuvenate the organization such that we are more capable of supporting Hong Kong industries amid the rising challenges."

Under the theme of "Grooming Our Team: Serving the Industry", the HKPC's 2007/08 Annual Report highlighted new initiatives to nurture new talent, reward excellent performers and improve communication with staff. These include the introduction of the Trainee Consultant Programme, a rigorous performance appraisal system and the Best Performance Recognition Scheme, etc.

Mr Fung also said, "HKPC have no plans of downsizing despite the current economic downturn. Instead, we have plans to expand our team in certain new technology areas such as medical and healthcare devices, civil aviation parts, food safety management and cleaner production through suitable internal re-deployment and recruitment."

Looking to the future, Mr Fung said, "As a key industrial support organization for over 40 years, we have taken a critical look at where we stand today and where we should best position ourselves in the future. Leveraging upon our long history and solid foundation, we are hopeful that HKPC would emerge as a more robust organization that progresses with time."
