Twenty-three Enterprises Recognized for Branding Excellence

Electric appliance manufacturer Midea Group and property developer Shui On Land were named the grand award winners of 'The Best Brand Enterprise Award 2008 (Greater China)' at a presentation ceremony today (12 September 2008) officiated by Mr Joseph Lai, Director General of Trade and Industry of the HKSAR Government. The Award Scheme is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and China Trademark Association.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Honourable Andrew Leung, Chairman of HKPC, said, "In the race to move up the value ladder, branding plays a significant role to an enterprise's sustainable competitiveness. Through 'The Best Brand Enterprise Award', HKPC aims to promote best practices in brand building and management and set the benchmark for enterprises by recognizing outstanding achievements in this area."

This year, the Award Scheme received over 100 entries from Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland, covering a wide range of industrial and business sectors. Entries were judged according to five criteria, including corporate development, corporate strategy, corporate leadership, corporate innovation and corporate brand management. A total of 23 companies were honoured.

Other officiating guests at the presentation ceremony included Ms Liu Ye, Deputy Secretary General of China Trademark Association, and Mr Victor Kuan, Director General of Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center.
