Cheers to Hong Kong Digital Creative Talents!

The outstanding achievements of Hong Kong digital content creators at the DigiCon6 Award 2008, organized by Japanese broadcaster Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc., were in the spotlight at a certificate presentation ceremony today (25 March 2009).

Mr Duncan Pescod, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Technology), HKSAR Government, and Mr Wilson Fung, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), officiated at the ceremony. Organized by HKPC, the event was staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Pescod said: "The Hong Kong Government is dedicated to developing Hong Kong as a city of creativity in the region. To co-ordinate the development of a creative economy, we will set up a dedicated office, 'Create Hong Kong'. Also, an extra $300 million has been earmarked to promote the continuous development of local creative industries. Digital entertainment, as one of the creative industry domains in which Hong Kong has an edge, will also benefit."

Video highlights of the DigiCon6 2008 Award Presentation Ceremony in Tokyo held in November 2008 were also shown at today's ceremony, which featured the glorious moment when Hong Kong-produced animation, "Hidden Elders" was presented with the Grand Award.
