HKPC Supports Development of Six Economic Areas

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) fully supports the Task Force on Economic Challenges to further explore the development potential of six economic areas for Hong Kong, in particular the environmental; creative; innovation and technology; and healthcare industries.

Mr Wilson Fung, Executive Director of HKPC, said, "In support of the Government's initiatives, HKPC will continue to play its catalyst role in creating a greater market and more business opportunities for these industries, both in Hong Kong and in the Mainland; in bringing in more advanced technologies from overseas; in upgrading our industries towards greener product design and manufacturing process; and in nurturing a pool of creative talents in Hong Kong."

In May, HKPC will organize a study mission to Guangdong for local environmental services to explore the new business opportunities in the Mainland for Hong Kong under CEPA V. With the soon-to-be established CreateHK, HKPC is ready to partner with industry to foster the development of the local creative industries and tap the booming markets in the Mainland and abroad. On the medical devices sector, HKPC has launched various projects to support local manufacturers to foray into this high value-adding industry.
