Resignation of Wilson Fung of HKPC

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) announced today (23 April 2010) the resignation of its Executive Director, Mr Wilson Fung. Mr Fung will be leaving to pursue other interests.

Mr Clement Chen, Chairman of HKPC, thanked Mr Fung for his outstanding contribution to the Council.

"I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Mr Fung for his distinguished contributions to the Council and to the industry in the past few years. Since he took up office in late 2006, Mr Fung has been driving with utmost dedication a series of internal reforms and has successfully changed the corporate culture and strengthened the corporate governance of HKPC. Under his leadership, HKPC has grown into an energetic and pro-active industry support organization," he said.

"In the past few years, Mr Fung has also been driving the creation of industry support service platforms to spearhead the growth of different industries. Mr Fung has successfully launched a wide range of initiatives supporting service and technology sectors," he said.

Mr Chen added that, "I enjoyed working with Mr Fung and understand that HKPC staff would miss his distinctive leadership. However, I respect his decision and wish him every success in his future endeavours," he said, stressing that the process of reforms implemented in the past few years would continue. He added that the Council would identify a suitable successor as soon as possible.

While explaining that it was a difficult decision to make, Mr Fung said, "There is never a right timing to leave an organization, particularly HKPC which is so dear to my heart. But I think it is the right time for me to move on as all the major reforms I introduced have now firmly taken root within the organization. I am indebted to the invaluable and unfailing support rendered to me by the Chairman, the Council and all staff members of HKPC."

Mr Fung was appointed Executive Director in December 2006 following over 20 years of service in the civil service as an administrative officer.
