HKPC Environmental Expert Elected to Head Prestigious Professional Body

Dr Anthony Ma, Principal Consultant (Environmental Management) of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), has won the support of fellow environmental scientists, engineers and other professionals and was elected as the new Chairman of The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management Hong Kong (CIWEM HK) at its Annual General Meeting held recently.

It was the second time in four years HKPC’s environmental expert being elected as chairperson of this organization.

CIWEM HK is the Asian chapter of the UK-based Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management which was set up in 1895 to help advance the science and practice of water and environmental management for public benefit. Established in 1987, CIWEM HK currently has around 200 members.

“I am deeply honoured to be given the opportunity to serve as the Chairman of CIWEM HK,” said Dr Ma, an experienced environmental expert specialising in wastewater treatment and recycling, water reclamation, water purification and water efficiency consultancy.

“In the year ahead, I will work closely with CIWEM HK members to provide professional and independent views related to the Government’s environmental policies. We will also engage more young professionals to participate in our technical meetings, visits and training to raise our professional standard and continuously improve the environment.”
