In response to the call for connectivity and interactivity, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC)’s website www.hkpc.org has adopted various Web 2.0 features, including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, Wikipedia in its new design, and is now available for preview by the public.
Introducing the revamped website, Mr Wilson Fung, Executive Director of HKPC said, “At the core of our new design is the integration of a more user-friendly interface with interactive elements. With the newly deployed Web 2.0 platforms, we can actively exchange views with the business and public communities online, and respond timely to their needs. The new design also ensures easy navigation for visitors when browsing HKPC’s full spectrum of industry support services.”
In upgrading the website, HKPC’s information technology experts have turned to Open Source Software (OSS) solutions. Mr Fung said, “HKPC is one of the first public organizations in Hong Kong adopting OSS applications in building its website. Constant updates in an active website like HKPC’s require powerful system support. Our OSS-based website clearly demonstrates the versatility of OSS applications, setting a good example for enterprises.”
The revamped design is now running in parallel with the existing HKPC website until 31 March 2010, for the full roll out on 1 April 2010. The public is welcome to visit the website at www.hkpc.org, or keep updated on the latest services and activities of HKPC by joining its Facebook fans page at www.facebook.com/HKPC.1967 or following its Twitter’s page at: http://twitter.com/HKPC1967.
