Bravo to Winners of Most Popular and Best in Marketing Smartphone Apps Contest

The outstanding efforts and creativity of Hong Kong marketers and advertisers in the use of smartphone apps for marketing were recognized at the awards presentation ceremony of the “2011 Hong Kong Marketing Smartphone Apps Popularity Contest” today (17 August 2011). Winners of 10 “Most Popular Marketing Smartphone Apps” and five special awards were presented (see attached list).

Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA), Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre (HKWDC), Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Ltd. (Cyberport) and Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), the Contest attracted over 100 locally-developed apps nominations.

Based on attractiveness and innovation, action tendency, technical deployment of smartphone technologies, comprehensiveness, and social wellness promotion of the apps, an expert panel comprising mobile technology and marketing experts shortlisted 20 entries for public voting for the 10 “Most Popular Marketing Smartphone Apps”. Winners of the special awards for the Best Marketing Smartphone Apps under ‘Technology’, ‘Creativity’, ‘Advertisements’, ‘Game’ and ‘Social Wellness’ categories were selected by the judging panel.

Mr Ken Fong, Chairman of WTIA, said, “We are pleased that the Contest has been warmly supported by the public with the submission of over 100 apps nomination and the casting of over 8,100 votes on the Contest’s official website. With the high penetration rate of smartphone users in Hong Kong and the strong creativity and innovation of local marketers and advertisers, Hong Kong is well-positioned to play a leadership role in smartphone advertising in Asia.”
