The 3rd Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program Kicks off with Expanded Award Scheme

The “3rd Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program”, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE), will include new activities to encourage local enterprises to adopt corporate social responsibility (CSR) in their business strategies in order to achieve win-wins for businesses, employees and the Society.

With sponsorship from the Bank of China (Hong Kong) for three consecutive years, the Program this year was launched by Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, Commissioner for Labour of the HKSAR Government; Mr Clement Chen, Chairman of HKPC; Dr Joseph Lee, Chairman of CPCE; and Mr Kai Chi-on, General Manager of Corporate Services Department, Bank of China (Hong Kong), today (19 June 2012).

Mr Chen said, “We aim to offer a platform for businesses to share their best practices on CSR through the Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program. To increase breadth and width of the Program, this year, we have expanded the ‘Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award’ into the ‘Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Scheme’ to engage a wider spectrum of businesses.”

Under the new Award Scheme, companies will receive the “Corporate Citizen” award logo upon full compliance of the scheme’s criteria after initial assessment. Those with outstanding CSR achievements will be selected for detailed assessment to vie for the “Hong Kong Outstanding Citizenship Award”.

Other activities of the “3rd Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program” include a newly introduced photo competition for the public, seminars and workshops, and the “Best Corporate Citizenship Proposal Competition” for secondary students in Hong Kong.

To share the experience of the successful implementation of CSR initiatives, HKPC organized a seminar featuring winners of the “2nd Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award” after the ceremony.
