Plastic Materials Resources Centre Helps Industry Enhance Product Value

To assist the local plastics industry to enhance the added value of its products by using novel materials, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), Vocational Training Council (VTC) and Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today (15 August 2012) jointly opened the Plastic Materials Resources Centre (PMRC). The first of its kind in Hong Kong, the centre is set up with the funding support of the SME Development Fund of the HKSAR Government and industry partners.

Located at the ground floor of VTC Kowloon Bay Complex, PMRC features a HKPC-developed knowledge-based plastic materials application system, sample displays and reference database of popular plastic materials and their applications. Industry practitioners can conveniently find information on plastic materials such as different branded items, trade names, their properties; as well as guidelines, standards and methodologies in design, processing and application for the development of high valued-added products such as medical device and electrical appliances.

The opening ceremony of PMRC was officiated by Mr Daniel Wong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Plastics Industry Council and Co-ordinator of PMRC; Mr Locky Chu, Chairman of VTC Plastics Training Board; Mr Stanley Lau, Deputy Chairman of FHKI; Mr Joseph Poon, Director (Technology Development) of HKPC; Mr Stanley Cheung, Vice-Chairman of VTC Plastics Training Board and Convenor of PMRC Working Group; and Ms Linda So, General Manager (Administration and Finance) of FHKI.

The centre is open to plastic materials suppliers, machinery manufacturers, product designers, manufacturers, students and the public. The opening hours are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
