Comprehensive Business Support under the Roof of SME One

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today (14 December 2012) officially opens a dedicated centre – SME One, to offer comprehensive support to local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr Gregory So, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR Government; Mr Clement Chen, Chairman of HKPC; and Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC.

Mr Chen said, “In line with HKPC’s pledge to ‘go the extra mile’ for businesses, SME One offers a one-stop platform with comprehensive support for SMEs. It provides information on SME support schemes of Hong Kong and the Mainland governments as well as various technology and management solutions to enhance business efficiency and competitiveness. Most importantly, we offer ‘hand-holding’ guide to SMEs to identify and apply for support schemes that best suit their needs.”

Introducing SME One’s services, Mrs Mak said, “At present, Hong Kong and PRD governments as well as various business support bodies are offering 31 SME support and funding schemes. They cover different stages of development of local SMEs, from start-up to business consolidation, upgrading and expansion. Businesses can gather these information from SME One in one go. SME One was warmly received by local SMEs, receiving over 5,000 visitors and 1,000 enquiries since operation commences in July.”

SME One features four business information zones, namely ‘SME Support Schemes’, ‘SME Banking and Financing’, ‘HKPC SME Support Programmes’ and ‘IT and Cloud Computing Applications’. Professionally-trained ambassadors are on hand to advise on various support and funding schemes. In addition, SMEs can seek HKPC experts’ advice through SME One’s free face-to-face consultation and online enquiry services. A concurrent seminar was held today on various SME support and funding schemes with advice on successful application.

Located on the ground floor of HKPC Building, SME One is open from 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. For more information, please visit the website: www.smeone.org or contact the centre hotline at tel. (852) 2788 6262 or email: smeone@hkpc.org.
