SME One Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Funding Secured for SMEs Hitting $15M

SME One, a dedicated centre established by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to provide one-stop support to local SMEs, has successfully helped more than 10 SMEs apply for a total of $15 million funding for business development since its operation in 2012.

SME One celebrated its 2nd anniversary (17 July 2014). Mr Andrew Wong, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry and Tourism) of the HKSAR Government was the Guest-of-Honour at the reception, to be greeted by Mr Clement Chen, Chairman of HKPC; and Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr Chen said, “SME One is tasked to help 300,000 SMEs in Hong Kong understand and utilize the variety of support and funding schemes available in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region. In the past two years, over 10,000 SME representatives participated in various forums, seminars and workshops. We have also handled close to 6,000 enquiries and made 82 referrals on funding and support scheme applications. To date, 13 applications have been approved, with total funding amounting to $15 million.”

To tie in with its 2nd anniversary, SME One launched a new membership scheme. Introducing the details, Mrs Mak said, “The brand new ‘Friends of SME One’ membership scheme serves to provide SMEs with more customized support, ranging from promotion to skills enhancement.”

Upon registration, member companies are entitled to three exclusive privileges. In addition to displaying their company name and logo on SME One website for free, they can enjoy up to 15% discount on selected training courses and testing services offered by HKPC.

Located on the ground floor of HKPC Building, SME One features four business information zones where SMEs can access to information on 32 support and funding schemes, financing solutions and the latest IT solutions in one go. They can also seek professional advice through SME One’s free face-to-face consultation and enquiry services.
