HKPC Welcomes Establishment of Innovation and Technology Bureau

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) welcomes the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau (ITB) today (20 November 2015). HKPC will work closely with the ITB to promote the development of innovation, technology and related industries in Hong Kong.

Mr Stanley Lau, Chairman of HKPC, said, “The establishment of the ITB is crucial to promoting a wider adoption of innovation and technology, and assisting local enterprises in industrial upgrading and business transformation. In recent years, the industry is facing tough challenges. Under the pressure of the volatile external economic environment, market changes and rising operation costs, enterprises need to leverage innovation and technology to lift their efficiency, as well as add value to their products and services in order to strengthen their competitiveness in the market.”

“HKPC strives to support local enterprises for sustainable development. We hope to further strengthen industry support with the establishment of the ITB. As an industry support organization, HKPC will continue to play a major role in helping enterprises apply innovation and technology, and partner with them to embark on applied R&D projects to tap new business opportunities and overcome challenges,” he said.

To assist local enterprises in the application of innovation and technology, HKPC has stepped up its industry support and introduced various new initiatives. Following the set up of the Conformal Cooling Technology Centre last year, which aims to help manufacturers substantially shorten injection cycle time and improve mould quality at competitive costs, HKPC opened a new one-stop support centre – “3D Printing One”, in August 2015 to enable enterprises to develop high value-adding and innovative products and services.

This November, HKPC opened the first one-stop robotics application support centre in Hong Kong - “RoboticsOne” to help enterprises adopt this technology to lift efficiency and competitiveness. Offering consultancy service, technology demonstration, robotics solutions development and training under one roof, “RoboticsOne” can facilitate industries to take the fast track to intelligent manufacturing.
