HKPC Attains Prestigious Directors Of The Year Awards 2021 and Special Recognition of Excellence in Board Diversity

(Hong Kong, 1 December 2021) The Council of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) was awarded the Directors of the Year Awards 2021 and Special Recognition of Excellence in Board Diversity on 30 November, with trophy presented by Dr Carlye Tsui, Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD). The Twin Awards are a great encouragement to the Council whose members have actively engaged in the strategic development and corporate governance of HKPC amid embracing the new normal.

Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, said, “The Council would like to express heartfelt gratitude to HKIoD and the Panel of Judges for the award, a priceless recognition of the concerted efforts of all the Council Members in the pursuit of good corporate governance, which we attach great importance. We sincerely hope that our experience in driving good corporate governance can help inspire other organisations to explore and adopt good practices for the benefit of Hong Kong.”

Mr Mohamed Butt, Executive Director of HKPC, added, “We are deeply honoured to have received the two prestigious awards from HKIoD and would like to thank the Panel of Judges for their acknowledgement of our dedicated efforts in upholding quality governance. My sincere appreciation goes to the Council Members for the collective and exemplary contribution of their expertise, understanding of industry needs and legal requirements, industry network and independent perspectives in guiding us to operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Our Council Members also possess diversified background and rich experience from various fields, such as manufacturing, law, accountancy, management, academics, labour and government. Being the only awardee in the Statutory/Non-profit-distributing Organisations category, HKPC will continue its role as a key driver of innovation and technology (I&T) development while upholding the importance of corporate governance.”

Under the leadership of the Council, HKPC has pioneered innovative technology developments to make industry smarter, introduced FutureSkills programmes to nurture smarter talents and provided secretariat support to specific Government funding schemes for SMEs to obtain resources to adopt I&T to enhance productivity and competitiveness. In the midst of these efforts, HKPC has managed to maintain a high standard of corporate governance, thanks to the dedicated service and unwavering support of its management and staff members.

Organised by HKIoD, the Directors of the Year Awards 2021 aims to recognise outstanding boards and directors, publicise the significance of good corporate governance, and promote good corporate governance and director professionalism. “The HKIoD Annual Dinner cum Presentation of Directors Of The Year Awards 2021” was held on 30 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, commemorating another year of progress by the Institute in the fellowship of peers, while witnessing the awarding of excellence in corporate governance and director practices. As the Guest of Honour, Mr Christopher Hui Ching-yu, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the HKSAR Government, delivered a keynote speech at the occasion.
