(Hong Kong, 11 May 2026) The national 15th Five-Year Plan has clearly set out the direction to accelerate the development of a green and low-carbon economy, fostering green production and living. The HKSAR Government has also introduced a series of measures to promote corporate green transformation. The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) released its latest 2024-2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, providing a comprehensive review of its key achievements across three key ESG areas as of 31 March 2025, while actively aligning with the national and HKSAR Government’s strategies to promote the synergistic development of green low-carbon initiatives and digital innovation and technology.
Guided by the philosophy of “Innovation, Green, New Productive Forces”, HKPC has strengthened corporate sustainability governance, environmental sustainability, promoted innovation-driven industrial and social sustainability, and fostered a caring workplace. Through the practical application of green technologies, HKPC continues to support the real-world implementation of sustainable solutions, contributing to the nation’s high-quality and sustainable economic and social development.
Hon Sunny TAN, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), said, “The national 15th Five-Year Plan clearly sets out the acceleration of a comprehensive green transformation for economic and social development, and the HKSAR Government has also elevated green and low-carbon development to a strategic level. HKPC actively aligns with the policy directions of the nation and the HKSAR Government, accelerating the development of a green and low-carbon economy, and building a favorable ecosystem for the healthy growth of green industries. During the reporting period, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable development, further strengthening our role as a key enabler of Hong Kong’s new productive forces and new industrialisation. This helps enhance the resilience of Hong Kong’s industry and advances sustainable development. Under the broader development blueprint of the national 15th Five-Year Plan, Hong Kong also serves as an important platform for enterprises to go global. HKPC will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s unique advantage of ‘backed by the motherland and connected to the world,’ to support Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong enterprises in expanding international markets in a suitable manner through innovative green technologies and integrated going global services, contributing to the nation’s high-quality development.”
In promoting ESG practices and disclosure, HKPC has repeatedly received recognition and won multiple international and local awards in the 2024-2025 period. Notably, HKPC’s 2023-2024 Environmental, Social and Governance Report was shortlisted and earned a Gold Award for the “Top 100 Annual Reports Worldwide” in the Spotlight Award at the international annual report competition organised by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP).
Looking ahead, HKPC will continue to take ESG as a strategic cornerstone, deepening the integration of artificial intelligence, green technology and new industrialisation to build a stronger ESG ecosystem. It will continue to harness Hong Kong’s strengths as a “super connector” and “super value-adder”, driving the Hong Kong and national economies toward smart, green, and high-value growth.
