Seminar Presents Water Resources Technologies and Management Solutions

Local manufacturers looking for ways to tackle wastewater treatment and water resources management problems will be able to obtain the solutions at the Seminar on "Water Resources Technologies and Management Through Innovation" jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management Hong Kong (CIWEM HK) on 6 June 2006.

Featuring experts from Europe, the USA, and Hong Kong, the Seminar will present advanced technologies for wastewater treatment, as well as water recycling and reuse, assisting manufacturers to enhance their productivity in water resources management.

Mr Kenny Wong, Chairman of CIWEM HK, and Senior Consultant (Environmental Management) of HKPC said, "Amid the global call for environmental protection, manufacturers need to comply with more stringent wastewater discharge standards, both locally and in the Mainland. For Hong Kong manufacturers with operations in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region, in particular, they also need to address the problem of water shortage. By offering innovative solutions on water resources management, this Seminar will assist manufacturers to meet these challenges."

Among the advanced technologies to be introduced at the Seminar is the award-winning BM-COMBO Biological-membrane wastewater treatment system designed by the Environmental Management team of HKPC. Capable of treating high-concentration organic wastewater using a compact bioreactor, this system offers an effective wastewater treatment solution for industrial facilities where space is a prime concern.
